About Us

Kolacny Music was started in 1930 by William J. Kolacny, as a musical instrument repair shop. It is currently run by William's son Richard, his wife Bettie, their daughter Donna, their son David and his wife Debbie. We sell, rent and repair band and orchestra instruments, working closely with school music programs.

The Harp Department was started by David Kolacny in 1980.

Kolacny Music is located two blocks North of Evans at the corner of Jewell and Broadway. We are 10 blocks South of 1-25 on Broadway. We maintain a full stock of music, recordings, accessories and instruments.

The Owners:

	Richard Kolacny - The majority owner of Kolacny Music, he now specializes in String Bass repair. Richard started working at Kolacny Music with his Dad, founder William Kolacny, when he was in school. He started honing in on his specialty while learning violin, cello and mandolin repair with Johannes Hornsteiner. Then he also worked with guitar and bass maker, Chris Mayne, for several years. 	David Kolacny - Part Owner of Kolacny Music, David started working here when he was 12 years old. David learned about the music business from his Grandfather and Father. David runs our harp department. He learned about the lever harp working along side Robert Bunker (legendary harp maker and creator of the "Loveland Sharping Lever"). David learned to regulate pedal harps from Ed Galchick when he was head of service at Lyon & Healy. Over the years, he received additional training and advice from Dale Barco and Peter Wiley. He is a member of the Harp Technicians Guild and works on every make of instrument. Kolacny Music has, on average, 200 lever harps on rent. Keeping these harps in shape and seeing common problems of students has given David some real insight into the needs of teachers and students. David is also the auther of "The Harps Nouveau Introduction to Harps" and "Trouble Shooting Your Lever Harp". David has served as National Treasurer and Chairman of the Board for the American Harp Society (AHS). Currently he is the National Exhibit Chairman for AHS Conferences and first Vice President of International Society of Folk Harpers and Craftsmen (ISFHC).  You can email Dave at harpdavidk@kolacnymusic.com.
	Debra Kolacny - With Kolacny Music since 1988, Debra, Dave Kolacny's wife, is part owner of Kolacny Music.  She specializes in office management and general management of the company.  You can email Debra at debk@kolacnymusic.com.

	Matt Curtis - With Kolacny Music since 1996, Matt specializes in woodwind instrument repair. Matt attended Western Iowa Tech to learn his trade. He has also attended many NAPBIRT conventions to further his expertise in the field of instrument repair. You can call Matt at 303-722-6081.
	Jeff Eisold - With Kolacny Music since 1994, Jeff works with brass and woodwind repair with a focus on brass. Jeff attended Allied Band Instrument Repair School where he went through a program to learn all phases of band instrument repair. 	Terry Sines - With Kolacny Music since 1993, Terry works with brass and woodwind repair with a focus on woodwinds. Terry attended Mansfield State College where he received his BA in Music. Road Sales Staff:

Bruce Peckham - With Kolacny Music since 2006, Bruce heads up our School Sales Program.
